Sonics select Russell Westbrook

Just got back from camping and it was awesome! River rafting on the Green river with some friends and it was a great time to spend the weekend. Just finished reading up on the latest sporting news the last few days and about the NBA draft so here's what I think of it.

With the 4th pick in the 2008 NBA draft the Sonics select Russell Westbrook out of UCLA. Sound exiting? For the casual observer it might not seem as glamorous as a Derick Rose or a Michael Beasley but Westbrook is honestly the man the Sonics need, a lock down defender who can guard and play either the one or the two. He was the Pac-10 defensive player of the year with tons of upside. The Sonics have been the worst defensive team in the league for the past few years and this could be the start of trying to reverse this culture.
The Sonics also traded for DJ White who is an absolute bruiser on the inside. I saw this kid play at Indiana and he can flat out crash the glass and defend in the post which is exactly what we needed. Ironically we traded BYU center Trent Plaisted and the 32 pick to get him from Detroit.
