Critical week for the Sonics

A major step in either keeping the SuperSonics in Seattle or letting them slither away to Oklahoma City will happen this Wednesday when judge Marsha Pechman will decide whether Clay Bennett and his crew of slime balls can pay off the last two years of their lease on Key Arena or force them to stay for two more seasons. Unfortunately Judge Pechman has never been a sports fan, she didn't even know who Ken Griffey Jr. was and she's lived in Seattle for over 20 years! She has no favorites either way which will make this decision very interesting.

This will not be the end of the war for both sides, only the biggest battle, call it the Gettysburg of Seattle. Both sides will still have chances to appeal the decision but this could take several months. Starbuck's CEO Howard Shultz will still have the opportunity to file his law suit against Clay Bennett but lets be honest, the odds of him winning that lawsuit are slim to none. This is the best opportunity for the city of Seattle to win back its team. It would force Clay Bennett to stay for the remaining two years which would buy the city time to either find a new area or force Bennett to sell because of financial losses. The Sonics deserve to stay in Seattle. They were the first professional team in Seattle and brought the city their first championship. There is still a big fan base and the city will support this team when it puts a decent team on the floor. I'm begging you Judge Pechman, SAVE OUR SONICS!
